Maryland Medicaid Pharmacy Program (MPDP) Summary

Name   Maryland Pharmacy Discount Program (MPDP)
Non-Financial Eligibility Conditions   A resident of Maryland who is:
  • enrolled in the Medicare program, and
  • does not have other public or private prescription drug coverage. Except you can receive benefits from both this program and the Maryland Medicaid Pharmacy Program.
  • Income Eligibility Conditions   (Apply $20 Income Disregard -See Note Below)

    Gross countable household income not more than:

    Individual: $1,005

    Couple: $1,167

    Effective 2008

    Note: $20 may be subtracted from your gross income; if the $20 subtraction reduces the income to the number listed above, then you probably qualify for the benefit.

    Certain income is not counted.  You must meet this income guideline after the excluded and disregarded income is subtracted.

    Asset Eligibility Conditions   Resources are not considered for eligibility for the MPDP.
    Benefit   Helps Maryland Residents enrolled in Medicare Part A, Part B or both pay for medically necessary prescriptions.

    You may also call toll-free 1-800-226-2142, or TDD, 1-800-735-2258 for an application form. Mail the completed application form to:

    The Maryland Medicaid Pharmacy Assistance Program uses the same one page (2 sided) application form.

    Appeals

     

    You can appeal any denial, termination, suspension or reduction of benefits

    • Appeals must be filed in writing at the DSS office. It is best to file it in person and to get a receipt showing that you filed the appeal.
    • Appeals must be filed within 90 days of the action. COMAR 10.01.04.04

    You Also May Be Eligible For   Maryland Primary Care, if you have no other health insurance coverage and meet certain other requirements.

    If you are a veteran, you may be eligible for prescription drug coverage under the Medical Benefits Package
